God work has been... interesting the past few days

NewLady is PISSED at everyone but me again (what a suprise) but she might be mad at me for THINKING I was also shit talking her with the group (I mean I kinda was but not at the first incident that set her off. I was AFTER bc jfc)

Basically NetflixCoworker and RC were venting ab her, how she never touches basics, or any pallets if they're not Men's. How she only does it when she doesn't want to work her section (usually Sunday's... when RC drops the most for basics since it's their area)

Well all of this was in earshot of NewLady who was two tables away. Now I was only there bc I had to tell RC something ab a pallet and was waiting for them to stop talking. From NewLady's perspective it looked like I was joining in.

Anyway she then bitchly asks RC if she's going to help her with the pallet of hats. It's a pallet of hats. Hats go in basics or boxes on the table. Figure it out.

Then like an hour later she comes up to RC and says really snootily "you know, I really didnt appreciate you talking to me like that. Next time-"

RC cuts her off and says "How about we just not talk!"

Today she did ALL of basics that RC dropped (oooh you sure got her there! Doing her work for her, that'll show her!) Which annoyed me but RC was like whatever less work I gotta do

Then we're working on the stupid hanging rack bc the summer like is sloooowly trickling in and we needed the facings. You know where they were? Certainly not in the back where they should be.

They. Were. Outside. OUTSIDE just heaps of metal bars prime for the taking!!!! RC texted BaldBastard and was like where the fuck are the facings? (Nicely ofc)

Asshole comes in and he's like yeah I threw em out bc we dont need them. They're just thrown about in the back.

Liladrien Week 2024 - Day Three: Alliance

"Kitty, to your left!"

Chat Noir rips his right gauntlet out from the metal abdomen of a fizzing drone, once an apathetic and harmless industrial vacuum cleaner, it had been transformed into a vicious attack machine with a penchant for sucking babies up its floor brush. Chat Noir had shoved the screaming mother-and-daughter pair it had been chasing after and neatly disabled it with a single strike to the heart. Now, he turns around, in the direction Argos had been calling at, to see a silver Mercedes-Benz coupé flooring it towards a family in a van desperately losing the speed race.

With a grunt, Chat Noir propels himself forward, transforming into a black bolt of lightning and slamming into the side of the Mercedes so hard, it flips over.

The family escapes, untouched, into the sunset.

"Come on," Chat Noir growls, back in 3D and ripping out chunks of the Mercedes’ tubes and engine and pipes, trying to stop its wheels from spinning. Alas, no matter what he does, the Mercedes revs and attempts to flip itself over. It must be sending help signals too, because Chat Noir can see a forklift truck, one perfectly capable of rightening 2t vehicles, approaching in the distance, beeping.

Chat Noir gives up.

"Cataclysm!" he roars, and slaps his charged hand onto the surface of the car. Immediately, rust spreads out from the point of contact, peeling away the glossy paint, eating into the metal, until there is nothing left but a pile of nuts and bolts.

The approaching forklift truck, as if wailing over the demise of a loved one, beeps louder, its pointy prongs headed straight for Chat Noir's head.

Chat Noir shakily stands up on his two feet, wondering whether or not Cataclysm will destroy the truck before it skewers him.

Argos is there, suddenly, and he neatly swipes his Fan through the truck’s body. He does so, so smoothly, that the truck itself doesn’t realise it's sliced into two until it travels a couple metres further and its top half falls to ground, its disected anatomy fizzing and on display for all to see.

"I told you not to use Cataclysm anymore," Argos says, approaching Chat Noir in disapproval, the violet of his eyes always make his scoldings all the more caustic.

"Well, I didn’t exactly have a choice, did I?" Chat Noir spits, barely managing to remain upright, Cataclysm disabled, his hands gripping his knees.

Argos raises an eyebrow.

"…sorry," Chat Noir says glumly.

"You’re exhausted," Argos says. "Come on, we need to take a break."

"We can’t afford to–"

"I'm sure we won't be scalped for daring to take a break," Argos says, looking around at the orange horizon, the drones buzzing like mosquitoes in the air, the highway around them littered with roasting tires and bits of brick and fallen streetlamps. "No one is going to gain anything from our exhaustion, least of all us. Let's just go and sit down for a moment."

Chat Noir doesn’t argue, partially because his mouth is so dry, his tongue is sticking to the roof of it.

Argos sighs. "Come on, cousin," he says, lifting one of Chat Noir’s arms around his shoulders and wrapping his own around Chat Noir’s waist. "Let’s get out of here."

Argos leaps, and half-carries Chat Noir to a secluded rooftop of a semi-tall office block where they can look down on most of the city, just not the Central Park Tower. It’s a dusty little spot messy with abandoned timber, sheets of green canvas as large as ship sails, and enough pigeons that Chat Noir starts sneezing immediately. Argos snaps out his Fan and sends a gust of wind blowing through the rooftop which scare all the pigeons away and which hopefully should get rid of most of the feather proteins.

Argos gently lowers Chat Noir down. His Ring has been beeping all throughout their journey here, Plagg trying to keep the transformation maintained when Adrien had been pushed to his limit. Finally, Adrien could de-transform with relief. His head droops as Plagg emerges after a chartreuse flash.

"This is not how I imagined our New York vacation going," Adrien says, massaging his neck. He cricks it. "Ow."

Félix, de-transformed, is looking over the edge of the building, trying to peer through the windows to its interior but it is impossible with the glass reflecting the orange sunlight. Félix winces and squints as a glare of UV light sears his eyes so brilliantly, he loses vision for a second.

"You two make yourself useful," Félix mumbles, rubbing his eyes and inspecting his fingers just in case the redness in his pupils will also translate to blood leaking out of his tear ducts. "Giant fucking building, there’s gotta be some food and water in there."

"Sure," Plagg says. "We’ll steal from the first terrified hostage we come across."

"It’s an office," Duusu adds. "All its workers must be trapped by their computers and money counters and printers." His eyes light up. Duusu loves printers. He loves scanning himself and converting all his bright plumage into technicolour and pasting himself around Félix's rooms.

"Just please get some food first?" Félix asks, and the two Kwami makes themselves scarce, diving into the building directly under Félix's feet.

Rockman Characters as Magireco Units Part 3: Kodama Drift

I jokingly mentioned in last year's Magitober that, since I'd done Magireco builds for the main Fusion trio from Exe, that I would also do one for Starforce's Subaru eventually. Well, a buddy and I were chatting away on Discord a few days ago, and I got inspired to do that now. So I present to you, Exe Rockman characters as Magireco Units Part 3: Starforce Edition!

Staring with the main protagonist again, Subaru. Now, unlike with the Fusion trio, the Starforce characters kinda don't work together often in-series until game three, which I'm handily ignoring on account of... not having actually finished it yet. Whoops. I'm only covering Ryuusei (Subaru) and Harp Note (Misora, AKA the First Hibiki) here, though I might do something with Rogue eventually, because he's fun. (Also anime version Cancer Bubble just screams 'Magirepo unit'.)

Onto stats! First up, Subaru:

Ryuusei no Rockman Element: Light Type: Balance Growth Pattern: Attack/HP Disks: AABBC, one vertical blast and one horizontal

Compared to our previous Rockman, the Hikari twins, Ryuusei's got a bit more armor, and a lot more HP. He's got more of a focus on blocking attacks versus evading them. I've loosely based some of his build here on Yachiyo's, partially since Yachiyo's the default 'does it all' veteran (tanky, high damage, good HP pool, and inherited protection to top it off,) and partially because Yachiyo gives me similar vibes to Subaru's character. For some reason. Depressed and cynical grump who learns to be friendly again through the power of found family, I guess. 

Connect: If There's Even a Sliver of a Chance... Attack Up, Blast Up, Damage Cut. A reference to this line Subaru says in game 1.

Magia: Star Fall Damage All Enemies, Attack Up (Allies/2t), Light Attack Up (Allies/2t), Remove Status Ailments (Allies) 

So I couldn't think of an actual attack to reference here, so I made one up. I imagine the animation looking similar to Momoko's magia 'Edge of Universe,' and maybe utilizing one of the sword cards. Alternatively, maybe it could look similar to Tanabachi's Doppel? 

(Also a very obtuse pun on the 'Heaven's Fall' catastrophe in Aldnoah.Zero because I keep rewatching it I regret nothing)

Second Magia: Star Break

Now, there's actually three Star Force forms (which are activated by the Star Break move in the anime, for those uninitiated,) so I could just pick one like the games did, or... we could use all three. So! Like Theresia, Sana's Doppel, has 2 forms, this one's gonna have one for each Star Force form. Fun!

1st pattern: Atomic Blazer (Fire Leo) Damage All Enemies, Attack Up (Allies/3t), Defense Up (Allies/3t), Chance to Burn (Enemies/2t) 2nd pattern: Magician's Freeze (Ice Pegasus) Damage All Enemies, Attack Up (Allies/3t), Damage Cut (Allies/3t), Chance to Skill Seal (Enemies/2t) 3rd pattern: Elemental Cyclone (Green Dragon) Damage All Enemies, Damage Inflicted Up (Allies/3t), Variable (Self/1t)

I nerfed the last one to allow for Variable. Now, this doesn't really track to the actual in-series attack, but 'elemental' immediately made me think 'variable!' so here we are. Also possibly an homage to Aniyachi.

Once again, I'll deal with SE later. Onto Misora! That's right, I'm doing both of them.

Harp Note Element: Flame Type: Attack Growth Pattern: Attack/Defense Disks: ABBCC, both blasts are vertical

Not quite an honorary Chargius, I've mostly just riffed off of Aimi here. Misora's an attack type here, because she takes No Shit™.

In the first game, Misora gives the link skill 'Undershirt,' which is effectively Endure. I figure this would track to anybody else she formed a Brotherband with, and what are connects but temporary Brotherbands? (Except I've already made that joke about Soul Unison, crap.) In addition, her 'Pulse Song' attack in-game stuns.

Czech test skates

The video of the whole first day of Czech test skates was immediately blocked on Youtube which means I haven’t seen a single SP or RD... But I’ve seen all FPs and FDs I wanted! 

Senior men

Matyáš Bělohradský - The greatest showman He’s returning on the ice after almost a year, he attempted a 3A and his goal is to try to reach the TES minimum for Worlds this season, so all things considered we can’t want more right now. He showed what he could and I have to say he had some energy left until the end. Though I don’t like The greatest showman, the choreo and step sequences were, in fact, a lot of fun. 

There were only two participants, Michal Březina, quite understandably, skipped this as he lives in the US. So... everybody was expecting to see Jiří Bělohradský... and instead here is...

Leonid Sviridenko - Elena & Lila by Max Richter He’s considering switching to the Czech Republic, so he skated here... He showed 4S, 4T (with a fall) but also some doubled jumps... 

What is even more surprising than a Russian skater wanting to switch countries is Jiří Bělohradský wanting to switch disciplines. He’s apparently switching to pairs and looking for a partner. I can’t find any post by him himself but as per Twitter accounts and ice partner search it’s true. 

Junior men

There were also two participants. I can assure you that Damian Malczyk is still a Javi fanboy and skated his SP to Black Betty. In the FP he skates to Unstoppables and this program could work. There are nice moments in the choreography where he can interact with the spectators, there’s an interesting entry into the spin, this time unfortunately, there were too many doubles in the jumps. 

It was Georgi Reshtenko who stole the whole show and got the highest score among men, junior and senior. He’s still skating to Joker and he went all out. 4T (fall), beautiful 3A, 4T2T... It was a great skate!

Ladies

I didn’t watch juniors and watched two out of three senior ladies. 

Eliška Březinová was, a bit surprisingly, second after the short, she skated the FP to Circles inspired by Einaudi, choreographed by Benoit Richaud. This program really screams loudly Benoit Richaud. If I had to describe his choreographies with one word it would be “round”. A lot of weird bent “round” moves... (Idk I think Misha Ge is so far not that versatile choreographer but you wouldn’t recognize that a program was choreographed by him in the first five seconds as you do here.) I get it, skaters want something new, Benoit is modern, but in fact the field of choreography where he moves is so narrow (and than he does a masterpiece like Matrix for Kaori or a good program like Peaky Blinders for Gabriele Frangipani). I don’t think the music does Eliška justice, it’s weird, but also it wasn’t the best performance. She was studying for her final exams at university, got a master’s degree, so she didn’t have that much time for training... But the most important thing is that she is excited about the program and cooperation with Benoit Richaud. 

Nikola Rychtaříková - Final contest I was so happy for her, it was a good skate. Quite nice jumps, beautiful spiral, a cartwheel, great entry into the sit spin (she enters from this “heroic” almost- slide). I really really liked that. 

Ice dance

In juniors, Denisa Cimlová/Vilém Hlavsa withdrew and Kateřina Mrázková/Daniel Mrázek were already at JGP Courchevel which leaves us with one participating team: Barbora Zelená/Jáchym Novák skating to Fire on fire. It’s quite lyrical, they looked good except for a twizzle mishap. 

Natálie Taschlerová/Filip Taschler - Yuyo verde, Invierno porteno Sadly I didn’t see their new RD... They recycled their FD which is very understandable - Filip is coming back after a knee injury so they didn’t have the time for training new choreography, they almost didn’t show the FD internationally last season (didn’t advance into FD at Worlds) and especially they need to be ready in a month for Nebelhorn Trophy trying to qualify for the Olympics. So any experimenting wouldn’t be that wise. I love them, they are awesome, so smooth, wonderfully in synch, have great twizzles and I think their approach is “a lot of energetic skating” but here it wasn’t just pure energy and power they were also so light. 

Pairs

Martin Bidař/Elizaveta Zhuk were not participating but look, there is a junior pair? Barbora Kuciánová/Filip Vochozka skating to Someone you love. It was great! They really skated and performed to the music, which I think in pairs is often not the case because the skaters concentrate so much on the difficult elements. Interesting is that twist is their fourth element, at first they did the sbs jumps to get them out of the way (2A + 2T, 2T fall), good landings on throw jumps, one great lift, one not so great lift. I saw them for the first time and I love them already!

4CC - Ladies FS

HOLY SHIT THAT WAS NOT GOOD FOR MY HEART. I couldn’t watch live, but I watched the Ladies FS without looking up the results first (I even asked my sister to click on the video for me so the ISU’s Youtube channel wouldn’t spoil the top 3 for me). So here’s some thoughts.

- Yelim Kim was absolutely amazing. That was the first skate of the event that seriously impressed me and made me emotional. Very well done! I loved seeing the support for her from the home crowd and her reaction to the score was amazing. Super happy for her!

- Shame about Amber’s mistakes, but I’m glad she still managed to get a personal best score that she seemed very happy with.

- Ngl, watching Karen Chen’s performance made me tear up a bit. What a comeback! It’s so nice to see her skating so well again. I really hope her experience at this competition gives her a confidence boost.

- Eunsoo was absolutely lovely and I hope she can come back stronger next season. I really like this program for her.

- Wakaba was really great to watch. I really love her and even though I don’t think she’s quite on the same level as she was in 2017/18 (yet), I’m glad to see her getting better and better and working on getting back there. That said, I’m not sure if risking the 3A was a good idea at this point. I hope she lands it in competition one day, but for now it didn’t really have a high success rate in practice and I really wasn’t surprised to see her fall on it. I think for now she should focus on skating clean, landing all her other jumps, and making her choreographies a bit more complex. I loved the step sequence, by the way.

- Kaori, Kaori... what do I even say here. I’m sorry, but going for the 4T here was absolutely stupid and I’m not sure why she did it. The jump so clearly isn’t ready. I get risking it at a small local competition where the stakes aren’t high, but at 4CC? That I really don’t get. Did she think that she had nothing to lose anyway? But even then, what’s the point when you can’t land it and it’ll get downgraded? At least Wakaba managed to rotate the 3A before falling on it. Has Kaori not watched Alexandra Trusova this season and learned that “full risk” isn’t a good strategy? It was an especially stupid decision since Kaori hasn’t really had a good season so far and should have really focused on getting the rest of her program back in order instead of risking quads. And just to be clear: I’m not saying this to hate on her. I love Kaori and she’s one of my favourite skaters ever. Which is precisely why I don’t want her or her team to be so careless and risk stuff before it’s ready. Phew. Now that I got that off my chest - Kaori is still a joy to watch. I adore this Matrix program, how she interprets it and how fast she can get on the ice. But that opening 4T-attempt really kept me from fully enjoying it because I just internally screamed “Kaori, what are you doing???” the whole time.

- Bradie... okay look, I think her medal here was deserved, but her score was not. 147? For real? And higher PCS that Rika (barely higher, but still)? Sorry not sorry, but if Bradie gets 70 PCS and Young gets 69, then Rika should be getting 75. Anything else is unfair. I also really want her to learn not to get in people’s way in practice. And if she somehow can’t, they should let her practice by herself. I don’t ever want to see Rika flinch and look scared like that again.

- Young was absolutely amazing. I’m so glad she managed to land the 3A this time! I really enjoyed watching her here. That said, I do think her score was generous, especially the PCS. I really like Young and I think she’s incredibly talented, but right now she pretty much has the same expression on her face throughout the entire program. She’s not performing or interpreting the music well. And it’s understandable, she’s very young and most skaters aren’t amazing performers at that age, but the scores should reflect it. Her getting high 8s and 9s in PE and IN is not justified right now. She should not be getting higher scores there than someone like Wakaba or even Yelim Kim this time. I am happy for her though, congrats on a well-deserved Silver!

- And finally... let’s talk about Rika. God, watching this was really not good for my heart or my nerves. When she popped that first Axel I thought I was going to have a breakdown. I haven’t seen her pop an Axel since Saitama. So glad she managed to pull herself together and not let it get to her! And she even spontaneously added the 2T to the second 3A in the middle of the program. I’ve said it before - that girl has nerves of steel. I’m so happy for her! She’s now the first single skater (male or female) in history to defend a 4CC title. Congratulations on making history bby, you deserve it so much!!

- Also, I’m so glad Rika’s being careful and not giving into this whole sensationalist quad hype. Yes, she’s training a 4S, but she didn’t need it here and wisely decided not to risk it. Because there’s more important things than just adding a quad at any cost and I’m so glad she and her team understand that.

- Also just because I can’t hold back from making some calculations: Rika scored 151.16 here despite popping one of her two planned 3As. A 3A is worth 8.00 points. If she’d landed it with good GOE (let’s say +2), she’d have gotten around 10 points for it. For the 1A that she did instead, she ended up getting 1.10 - so that’s roughly 8.90 points that she left on the table here.

151.16 + 8.90 = 160.06 So basically, correct me if I’m wrong, but Rika would have scored 160 if she’d skated clean? And that’s without a 4S? Holy shit. It’s what she deserves, but I don’t want to get my hopes up for Worlds - I doubt they’ll be as fair to her there. (Or if they will, they’ll just start giving the Eteri girls 170 to make up for it.)

[Edit: I realize now that it’s not quite that simple since she also spontaneously added another -3T to still have the max number of triples... I keep being amazed by how she’s able to improvise, though!]

l Kenshi experience. During chargen this legendary sword everyone hates you background was used. As consequence, the base is regularly raided by Holy Nation. No one is home (save from hiding criminal char with bounty 2t) and it is mostly just materials to make more swords and meat. Armed paladins are running around screaming bloody murder. Suddenly said char decides they are hungry. They sneak into rows of angry paladins, grab a bite, and just sit here with paladins tripping over them.

Hahah, nice story! It reminded me of the situation with Zed when he came to robbers' base (he was disguised, so enemies didn’t notice the stranger in their robbers armor). This situation happened so long ago.

Finally..awakening to Russia’s true intentions

Since Peter the great declared that he would drag Russia "kicking & screaming" into the 20th Century and Catherine the Great decided ro establish a European  Russian Empire, successive Russian Imperial and Communist leaders have attempted to project Russia as a world power whilst actually being a 2nd division player.

Today with a decreasing  population of 145 million, Russia is but a shadow of the former USSR that boasted a population of 287million (1990).

Russia's GDP in 2021 was $1.7T, compared to  Italy's $2T, a country of  only 59m people, and not considered a superpower. Successive Russian rulers have projected an image of superpower status against the actuality of being the equivalent of a developing country.

Like so many, one dictatorship morphed into another albeit under a different label. Putin is undistinguishable from the Tsars because his power is total and those who question or challenge it have been ruthlessly dealt with. True, he has not starved millions to death and the Siberian gulags are less populated than they were under Stalin but Putin who for a short while in the early years of this century professed to champion democracy, reverted to traditional Russian dictatorship within a few years of becoming President. Whereas that is indisputable and now seen by all, he managed to dupe, bully and persuade western leaders that he was a man they could do business with.

Would a man schooled in the philosophy of the KGB, who has invaded Georgia, Crimea, waged war against Syrians and as head of a country who signed the Budapest Agreement guaranteeing Ukrainian sovereignty now invading it, be trustworthy? His pattern of aggression has actually been very consistent, but  well enough camouflaged to fool his "enemies".

Russia remains primarily an agricultural peasant country whose citizens have long been accustomed to suffering at the hands of single minded strong leaders. Opposition has never been tolerated and has always been ruthlessly quashed. In spite of multiple assassinations of dissidents (Baris Nimstov: Vladimir Karamorosov: Sergei Magninsky  and others brazenly carried out on foreign soil Livinchenko poisoned  in the UK in 2006 and Sergei Skripal, and his daughter, Yulia Skripal, in Salisbury in 2018) western governments'  only action was to protest and expel a few Russian "Diplomats". The lack of concrete action only emboldened Putin and confirmed to him that he could proceed as he wished without serious consequences.

Whilst eliminating the opposition he also had set about enriching himself by stealing hundreds of billions of dollars from his own people. Bill Browder reveals in "Freezing Order" (Simon & Shuster) that one of Putin's closest childhood friends, Sergei Roldugin, a  simple middle class relatively unknown cellist, is the owner of thousands of offshore companies worth billions of dollars with Property assets and investments all over the world. 

Furthermore, it is estimated that Russia's entire revenue from Oil and Gas of approx. $1b a day is being used to pay for the war in Ukraine. This all from a man who professes to advance the well being of his people. How could the West have been so naive?

Suddenly and hopefully not too late, the Germans have woken up to the reality of the threat of  Russian intentions. Angela Merkel's 16 years of wooing Putin led only to Germany becoming dependent on Russian oil and gas restricting it  to following a policy of appeasement towards him.

Neutral Sweden and Finland now realise that neutrality offers no insurance against Russian ambitions. One would have thought that Finland would have been wise to that as their neutrality counted for nothing when Stalin invaded it in 1939.

So for the first time since Hitler invaded Czechoslovakia in 1939 a major power has invaded a sovereign European state with the sole intention of absorbing it and with no qualms as to how many of its citizens it slaughters and how much of it is destroyed. Thankfully, for the first time since 1939 the free world has united to oppose this aggression and to offer meaningful support to the victim but this has only given rise to threats of escalation and even nuclear war.

 Winston Churchill and General Patton understood Russian intentions but fatigue and fear of a protracted war stopped the Allies from making Europe safe because they only defeated one country who bullied Europe into submission whilst creating another with the same ambitions.

We can only hope that this rude awakening will give our leaders the resolve they need to contain Russia once and for all.

Ray’s second Easter

Ray and I had a fantastic Saturday together, celebrating Easter.

First stop was a salon recommended by one of his teachers/the mom of one of his daycare classmates for Ray’s first haircut. The best part? I didn’t need to get permission to cut his hair!

Next, a quick trip to Target for a last-minute Easter basket. Pickin’s were slim, but I ended up getting Ray a cute little burlap bag with a sheep on the side.

It turns out he didn’t need anything bigger than that, and easily could have gotten by without a bag or basket... We drove almost an hour to an Easter egg hunt that was billed as having more than 10,000 eggs and separate hunts for kids in different age groups. The littles (birth through 3 years) were first.

Ray had napped in the car on the way there, and I think he was still trying to figure out where we were and what was going on when the “hunt” began. The hunt was really just a bunch of eggs covering about half of a turf field at the local high school. I carried Ray out and set him on his feet at around the 20-yard line, but by the time he got his bearings, there were no eggs in sight!

Thankfully, a couple of sweet parents, seeing Ray looking completely bewildered, shared their children’s haul with him, so he ended up with three plastic eggs that he treated like treasures. It was adorable!

After the hunt, we hung out for a few more minutes. I let Ray walk around, and he was fascinated by the bounce house. I offered to let him go in after we stood in line, but he was perfectly content bouncing outside the house, watching the kids inside.

From there, we went to TGI Friday’s for lunch. Ray was a bit of a pip, not really wanting to eat anything I offered him (chicken fingers, fries, mandarin orange slices – all things he likes). He did, however, drain a cup of milk. Then he proceeded to try to eat the crayons the server had given him. Then he decided he wanted to bang his sippie cup on the table. Then Mommy decided to ask for the check...

Next stop was the mall, where I decided that the line to see the Easter Bunny wasn’t TOO long. However, we were too far back when the bunny needed a break. So I jumped on my phone to make a reservation and got the first one I could get, about an hour and 20 minutes later. With Ray in his stroller (holy hell, he’s getting too big for his umbrella stroller – I could barely fasten the three-point lap belt!), we headed into the mall. 

First stop was Dick’s Sporting Goods, where Ray got his Easter gift – a toddler-sized basketball of his very own! Next weekend, we’ll bring it to the Y with us Saturday morning and go into the gym to “shoot hoops.”

After that, we stopped at Old Navy. I picked up a rash guard shirt for Ray to wear when we go to the Jersey shore this August – I grabbed a 3T to be on the safe side. Ray is solidly in 2T now and wears some 3T pieces, but most are loose on him.

I also got him the cutest plaid shirt with a bowtie, and two pairs of dressy pants – one in khaki and one in navy. All of those were size 2T. I’m hoping he can wear the plaid shirt and bowtie with one of the pairs of pants in his spring picture at daycare.

From there, we headed back to the bunny, with a quick stop in the ladies’ room to exchange Ray’s jeans for the nice pinstripe pants that go with his Easter outfit. We were still a little early, so I got some change so he could ride one of the little kid rides in the area – he looked so bored while the ride was going, but immediately wanted to go again when it was over! But I wasn’t about to spend another 75 cents for just 30 more seconds... Anyone else remember when those rides were a nickel?!?

More waiting in the stroller, and it was obvious Ray was getting sleepy. I started hoping he would be sleepy to the point of not caring about being on the lap of a giant bunny, but no dice... We ended up with a classic screaming-toddler-on-the-Easter-Bunny’s-lap portrait. I snapped a photo of the print with my phone and sent it to my dear friend N, who immediately texted back that she was going to frame this one.

Now we’re home and exhausted. But we thoroughly enjoyed our Easter day out.
